No 180. Little Wittenham Bridge

This bridge which crosses the river slightly downstream of Day’s Lock carries the footpath to the villages of Little Wittenham and Long Wittenham.   The nearby town of Dorchester on Thames was a Roman settlement and the remains of a Roman dyke can be seen a short way upstream.   There are also traces of Neolithic occupation close by. The curve of the Thames can be traced to the left as it flows round the meadow in front of Didcot power station.
