No 185. Culham Cut Footbridge

This bride height 12ft 5in crosses the lock cut close to the village of Culham on the North bank which can be reached by a footpath. The cut was made in 1809 in order to bypass a difficult part of the river where a flash lock passed underneath a mill therefore making navigation of barges very difficult. On the south side of the bridge are Sutton Pools which are crossed by several weirs and a footbridges and are a haven for wildlife
